James Witten, CPA

Tax Director

Hello, I am James Witten, and I serve as the Tax Director for The Legacy Financial Group.

My wife, Katie, and I moved to Owasso from Dallas along with our three kiddos, Judson (6), Ruby (4), and Vivian (2). We moved up here for a variety of reasons, including being closer to family and for this amazing opportunity to build something special at Legacy. Outside of work, my family and I are involved in our church, where we have served with premarital, recovery, and discipleship ministries. Additionally, I am a huge sneaker head and you will usually catch me in a pair of my favorite kicks on the weekend.

I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting at the University of Texas at Dallas. I also played basketball for three years at UTD before retiring early due to a series of knee injuries. I currently hold a CPA license with the right to practice in Texas and Oklahoma.

Prior to Legacy, I worked within public accounting both big and small. For the last eight years, I worked within Goldman Sachs Ayco, where I was the Regional Tax Head for the Southwest region. At Goldman Sachs Ayco, I served a population of Fortune 500 corporate executives and took care of their personal income tax planning and compliance.

I am excited for the new role within Legacy because I am excited to structure the business to both help our clients with their tax needs and build a dynamic firm that can break the mold of “old school” public accounting. My goal is to continue to meet the high bar of client service that Legacy has set over the years while being a proactive advisor to our clients.

I have been uniquely wired to love the technical aspects of income taxes as well as the creative problem-solving involved with serving our clients on a day-to-day basis. We look forward to serving you, your families, and your businesses.
